Dogs on the trail
Regardless of how you are using the trail, you will be sharing the trail or road with other users. Dogs ARE allowed on parts of the trail. Where they are allowed the dog MUST be on a lead.
No matter where on the trail you are your dog MUST be on a lead.
Dogs are permitted on the rail corridor sections in the following areas:
- Ōpua – Kawakawa (Yellow sections above)
- Ōkaihau – Kaikohe Aerodrome (Yellow sections above)
- Dogs are permitted to use the road sections of the trail – not indicated on the map above
Dogs are not permitted on private property.
Note
- Horses are not permitted without written consent from FNDC
- Keep to the trail and don’t trespass on private land
- Try not to disturb animals grazing on or near the trail
